Why train with Greg Dean?

Five weeks can save you five years

Most untrained comedians literally take minutes to deliver their first joke. Greg invented joke structure and teaches you all the different ways to land a laugh every 15-20 seconds. And that’s exactly what’s needed to build a successful act and ultimately a comedy career.

Through his techniques, you will learn flexible thinking and start finding the humor in any story you want to tell. Next thing you know, you’re trying a few jokes a minute at open mics and creating an act that people will love.

He finds the funny

Greg can literally make anything funny (ask him!). He’s like WD-40. When students get stuck, they return to his classes to get back into the joke writing groove. Thousands of “Deaners” – students who’ve learned Greg’s techniques – grow their stand-up material based on his teachings and find humor on and off the stage every day.

Flexible Learning Formats

All classes are either taught in person at the Santa Monica Playhouse or live and remote over Zoom. You choose how you would prefer to learn. All classes are taught many times throughout the year to help provide even more flexibility based on your availability.

OnDemand courses and books are also available for you to learn The Greg Dean Fundamentals, techniques and method on your own time or continue your skills after completing the Level 1 or Level 2 courses.

Over 40,000 Stand-Up Comedy Students

Tens of thousands have learned from Greg Dean, the original “OG” teacher of stand-up comedy structure and The Greg Dean Method. Thousands have moved on to have very successful careers because of it.

They all were taught real techniques and fundamentals so that they were able to develop their own version of “funny” and so can you!
